Benjamin Franklin printed Anderson's Constitutions in 1734
It is widely known that Benjamin Franklin printed Anderson's Constitutions in 1734 in Philadelphia. This is cited as the first Masonic book to be printed in America. Only 120 copies were sold, of which 17 are still known to exist. This book is also noted as the first American "songster" - "a collection of three more secular poems intended to be sung." The volume is one of the rarest American books ever published (Source: An Idiot's Guide to Freemasonry by S. Brent Morris. Photo credit to the George Washington Masonic National Memorial .)
