On December 8, 1858, the Grand Lodge of Washington State was formed.
The Washington territory was part of the Oregon territory until 1853, where Freemasonry was established in the American Northwest.
Delegates from the first four Washington Territory Masonic Lodge’s met in a convention in 1858 and formed the Grand Lodge of Washington, 31 years before Washington gained statehood in 1889.
The Grand Lodge of Washington chartered the first lodge in the Alaska Territory and continued to charter lodge’s in Alaska until 1981, when the Grand Lodge of Alaska was formed.
