Traditionally, we think of Shriners International as a fun loving group, known for their charity work and parade units. But, back in the late 1800's, around when the group was founded, it still had a bit of an esoteric bent.
This unusual drawing, entitled "New York City—Ritualistic Esoteric Memorial Observances of Mecca Temple, Ancient Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, at Masonic Temple, January 30th—the Burning of the Prohibited Garment", was originally printed in an 1886 issue of Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper.
