Freemasonry - Wheelchair Donation to Shantytown Heritage Park.
The Advance Mawhera Lodge No 61 recently, at it's delayed Installation Ceremony, donated a new wheelchair to the Shantytown Heritage Park near Greymouth. This followed an incident where a Brother nearly tipped an elderly relative out of the old chair that Shantytown had when crossing some Railway tracks. The new chair is designed to be pushed and has appropriate wheels for the terrain.
The cost of the wheelchair was subsidised by a contribution from the Freemasons Charity.
As the Advance Mawhera Lodge meet at the Freemasons Hall at Shantytown, it is likely that Lodge members will be able to make use of the chair in the future as well as the general public.
The photo shows Andrea Forrest, the General Manager of Shantytown accepting the "gift" from the new Master, W Bro Chris Byrne along with the District Grand Master, V W Bro Allan Cameron, President of the Board, RW Bro. Rob Angelo and District Benevolent Officer, RW Bro Peter Robertson as well as Lodge members.
